The EBC at the 2024 French Japanese Business Summit<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 3 December, the EBC participated in the 2024 French Japanese Business Summit, organised by CCI France Japon and the French Embassy.<\/strong> With a dedicated stand, the EBC engaged with French companies to raise awareness about its mission and activities. Team members also attended insightful conferences on innovation, bilateral cooperation, and strategies shaping a better future for France and Japan.

EFPIA General Assembly<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 5 December, <\/strong>the EBC attended the online General Assembly of its member, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations in Japan (EFPIA).<\/strong> EFPIA stakeholders reviewed 2024 achievements and outlined strategies for 2025. Key highlights included updates from Chair Takahiko Iwaya and Director General Yoshiaki Aono, showcasing progress across committees and working groups, as well as specialized teams. EBC Human Resources Committee Workshop<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 5 December the EBC HR Committee hosted a workshop on harassment and conflict resolution.<\/strong> The session covered different forms of harassment, relevant legislation and recent changes to the legal landscape. Participants explored strategies to prevent harassment through training and by making employees, including managers, aware of behaviour and language that could be considered inappropriate. Discussions highlighted the importance of understanding how certain words or actions might be perceived depending on the nature of the workplace relationship.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

EBC Government Relations Committee Meeting<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 5 December, the newly established Government Relations Committee held its second meeting at the EBC<\/strong>. Like the first meeting, several representatives from European-affiliated companies attended. The committee briefly discussed recent developments in Korea before electing Jakob Edberg of GR Japan as its inaugural chair. The committee also agreed to invite guest speakers to future meetings, aiming to gain insights from experts on the latest political developments. Additionally, the committee plans to engage with the EU Delegation to learn about their recent political objectives and policy initiatives. The committee resolved to monitor the status of transparency-related policies that could impact the government affairs sector.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

EBC at the AHK Board of Directors meeting and Christmas Dinner<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 9 December, the EBC attended the German Chamber of Commerce in Japan (AHK Japan) board meeting and Christmas dinner.<\/strong> This event was a valuable opportunity to network with German companies and discuss common challenges and opportunities in the Japanese market. We highlighted our mission to support European businesses by tackling non-tariff barriers and fostering cooperation.

EBC at the CCI France Japon Caf\u00e9 Croissants<\/strong><\/div>\n

On 10 December, the French Chamber of Commerce in Japan hosted a Caf\u00e9 Croissants session spotlighting the European Business Council in Japan.<\/strong> The event showcased the EBC\u2019s mission to support European companies in overcoming non-tariff barrier issues in Japan through advocacy, collaboration with Japanese and EU authorities, and specialised committees\u2019 actions. St\u00e9fan Le D\u00fb, Chair of the Sustainability Committee, presented his committee’s initiatives to disseminate best practices in the field. Jean-Fran\u00e7ois R\u00e9beill\u00e9, Energy Committee Chair, shared how his committee tackles energy-related challenges in Japan and unlocks opportunities for members. An interactive discussion followed, where practical examples brought the EBC\u2019s efforts to life\u2014showing how it works to address regulatory hurdles and unlock growth potential for European companies in Japan.<\/p>\n
