EBC Government Relations Committee – September Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

The EBC Government Relations Committee met on\u00a09 September\u00a0for a timely and engaging session. The meeting began with a discussion on the\u00a0resignation of Prime Minister Ishiba\u00a0and the possible successors<\/strong>, including the political shifts required to secure a majority in parliament.<\/p>\n

We then had the pleasure of hearing from\u00a0Professor<\/strong> Stephen Nagy of International Christian University, who shared his insights on\u00a0Japan\u2019s geopolitics\u00a0and its strategic approach to international partnerships, aligning closely with key allies while using this foundation to engage with others.<\/strong> The presentation sparked an active exchange of\u00a0questions, ideas, and perspectives\u00a0among participants.<\/p>\n

EBC meets with EUIPO Executive Director to discuss intellectual property rights<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 12 September, the EBC, together with its Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Committee, met with the EUIPO – European Union Intellectual Property Office, led by Executive Director Jo\u00e3o Negr\u00e3o. The EUIPO delegation was in Japan for discussions with key Japanese stakeholders, including the Japan Patent Office (JPO).
\nThe meeting provided an opportunity for EBC members to share their perspectives on intellectual property rights and their enforcement. Topics covered included trademarks, patents, e-commerce platforms, injunctions, and more.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The EUIPO is launching a new programme in cooperation with Japan, and both sides agreed to remain in close contact to facilitate information exchange as the programme develops.<\/p>\n

Join the Ukrainian Pavilion at CEATEC 2025 – Asia\u2019s Largest Tech Showcase<\/strong><\/p>\n

From\u00a014 to 17 October, CEATEC<\/u><\/a> will once again transform Makuhari Messe (Chiba) into Asia\u2019s leading hub for technology and innovation, gathering more than\u00a0100,000 visitors\u00a0and over\u00a0800 exhibitors\u00a0from Japan and abroad.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the\u00a0Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (UCCJ)\u00a0will organize a\u00a0Ukrainian Pavilion<\/a>, highlighting innovation in\u00a0IT, drones, agritech, dual-use technologies, and AI.<\/strong> This initiative provides an excellent opportunity for European companies to gain visibility<\/strong>, connect with Japanese industry leaders, and engage with government officials, investors, and potential partners.<\/p>\n
