This week has been marked by dynamic engagement across the EBC network, from a successful inaugural Digital Committee event in Tokyo to high-level discussions in Paris. EBC Digital Committee Event – 7 April<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 7 April, the EBC Digital Committee successfully held its first event, a\u00a0Cybersecurity Conference, at the EU Delegation in Tokyo. The conference brought together experts from both the public and private sectors to exchange views on current cybersecurity challenges and evolving policy developments.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were honoured to welcome distinguished speakers, including Luis Miguel Vega Fidalgo (European Commission), Satoshi Deguchi (METI), Amelia Alder (Knorr-Bremse). Their complementary perspectives provided valuable insights and sparked a dynamic and engaging discussion.<\/p>\n

Following the presentations and Q&A session, participants continued the conversation during a networking\u00a0time, fostering meaningful dialogue and new connections across the cybersecurity community.<\/p>\n

The EBC Digital Committee co-chairs, Wataru Suzuki and Felix von Helden, warmly thank all speakers for their contributions, as well as Peter Fatelnig and his colleagues at the EU Delegation for kindly hosting this successful event.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Meeting with Ambassador Toshihide Ando,<\/strong>\u00a0OECD – 13 April<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 13 April, the EBC had the pleasure of meeting\u00a0<\/span>in Paris\u00a0<\/span>with\u00a0<\/span>Ambassador Toshihide Ando,\u00a0<\/span>Permanent Representative of Japan to the OECD<\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange on current economic priorities in Japan and globally, as well as on key issues related to multilateral cooperation. Discussions notably touched upon the role of the OECD in promoting policies that support sustainable growth, innovation, and an open and predictable business environment.<\/p>\n

The EBC also shared the perspectives and concerns of European companies operating in Japan, particularly regarding the regulatory framework and overall competitiveness.<\/p>\n

This constructive exchange highlights the importance of continued dialogue between international institutions and the business community, and paves the way for further engagement on issues of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

Upcoming: Logistics Committee Meeting – 23 April<\/strong><\/p>\n

The EBC Logistics Committee will meet on\u00a023 April 2026 from 09:30 AM at the EBC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The meeting will focus on the current situation in the Middle East and its implications for logistics and supply chains. <\/strong>In particular, discussions will address the impact on freight markets, including recent developments in both air and sea freight prices. This session will provide an opportunity to exchange views and insights on how these developments are affecting your operations and to explore possible responses.<\/p>\n
