As of 1 September 2020, non-Japanese residents of Japan are now able to (re-)enter Japan. This move by the Japanese Government is very welcomed as the EBC has continuously asked for the restriction to be lifted.<\/p>\n<p>However, the EBC would like to point out three issues :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Non-Japanese nationals have to be tested overseas before coming back to Japan. This can be problematic for businesspeople that are only abroad for a day or two. Furthermore, Japanese nationals do not need to follow this procedure.<\/li>\n<li>The lifting does not address the issue of new expats, except for a few cases.
