Tax Transparency in the Digital Economy
Wednesday 27 April, 2:00pm-3:30pm

Dear Friends of the EBC,

We are glad to invite you to our first 2022 EBC Briefing on “Tax Transparency in the Digital Economy, presented by Mr. Artur Olszewski, on Wednesday 27 April, 2:00pm-3:30pm

Artur Olszewski is a Tax Policy Adviser at the OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration and was one of the drafters of the Model Reporting Rules for Digital Platforms and the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework.

Before joining the OECD in 2018, Artur spent five years as a member of the EY international tax practice in the UK and Japan.

He will cover two OECD tax transparency initiatives aimed at addressing recent developments in the digital economy.

Firstly, the Model Reporting Rules for Digital Platforms, developed in response to the rapid growth of the sharing and gig economy and requiring digital platforms to collect and report to tax administrations information on income realised by platform sellers.

Secondly, the ongoing work of the OECD on the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), which provides for the reporting and exchange of tax information on transactions in Crypto-Assets. The CARF was designed to ensure that the significant progress made in reaching global tax transparency under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) in respect of traditional financial accounts is not eroded by the emergence of new asset classes not covered by the CRS, specifically Crypto-Assets.

The OECD recently released a public consultation document on the CARF and interested parties are invited to send their comments by 29 April 2022.

The EBC will welcome 20 people on a first-come first-served basis. The others will be able to follow the briefing online.

If you wish to attend (please indicate online or in person), and if you already have questions for the speaker, send an email to: [email protected]
