From the EBC

Dear Friends of the EBC,

On 10 July, the EBC Food and Agriculture Committee had a productive meeting with the Food Safety Standards and Evaluation Division of the Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA). This Division recently moved from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in April, making this our first meeting with them since the transition. The gathering was a great opportunity to connect with new faces and discuss some key issues for our companies such as food contact materials and food additives. Both sides shared their perspectives and potential future changes in these areas. The EBC sincerely appreciates the CAA’s time and is eager to hold more regular meetings in the future.

On 11 July, our President Laurent Depus and I had the honour of representing the European Business Council in Japan at the French Embassy in Tokyo to celebrate the French National Day. This fantastic event provided a golden opportunity to forge valuable connections with the French Embassy team, meet successful French companies that are already members of our 22 EBC committees, and engage with thriving companies to explain how the EBC work on regulatory issues in the Japanese market can help them. A heartfelt thank you to H.E. Philippe Setton, Ambassador of France to Japan, and the whole Embassy team for the warm invitation and hospitality!
