From the EBC

Dear Friends of the EBC,

On Monday 20 March, Michael Mroczek, President of the EBC, gave a keynote speech at a seminar on “Business Environment and Expansion of Foreign Direct Investment in Japan”, co-organised by MOFA, METI and JETRO. The event also had presentations by ACCJ, Exotech (a French logistics company), CIC, and two prefectures, in addition to the hosting organisations.

On Wednesday 22 March, the EBC management, the President of the German Chamber of Commerce, the Chairs of the EBC Sustainability and Security & Defence Committees, and 2 members of our Energy Committee and Pharmaceutical Committee (EFPIA), met with Mr. Michael Hager, Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, to discuss about the current situation of their economic sectors on the Japanese market. It was also an opportunity to hand him over the last EBC White Paper.

If your company wants to learn more about the latest tax amendments and to raise issues regarding all matters related to tax, we are pleased to inform you that the EBC Tax Committee will hold its first committee meeting of the year on 6 April from 09H00 at the EBC. You are more than welcome to forward this invitation to any of your colleagues, especially your tax manager!
To register for the meeting, please send an email to: [email protected]

And if you are currently experiencing problems with non-tariff barriers on the Japanese market, consider contacting the EBC  to join one of our committees!

The EBC team is looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Valerie Moschetti
