The European Business Council in Japan (EBC) welcomes the notice on Traceability issued by the National Tax Agency (NTA) to eight liquor related industry associations on 22 September.

After having advocated long for the Japanese auothorities to take action against the selling of liquor with erased lot codes the NTA has finally issued a notice asking wholesalers and retailers to refrain from trading in liquor with erased lot codes. EBC very much welcomes this notice and hopes that it will put an end to this behaviour, that is affecting not only the brand image of European liquor brands, but also more so the health of the consumer.
