 In the field of standards and certification, we continue to request that MLIT simplify and rationalize vehicle certification procedures, and as a result, reviews are being implemented step by step. Rationalization of the PHP is also progressing. We are also working, in cooperation with headquarters OEMs and MLIT, to request the simplification and rationalization of procedures under the cybersecurity and software update regulations for connected cars.

Recommendations

  • Efforts should continue to promote the harmonization of international regulations and to achieve at an early date a more complete IWVTA of greater practical value.
  • Discussions should continue with MLIT and others towards rationalizing Japan-specific requirements and improving the efficiency of the certification system.
