On 2 September 2022, the EBC issued a statementon the Japanese public tendering system for offshore wind. It was handed over to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Labour and Tourism, and some selected Japanese politicians. The EBC believes transparency is important to result in a competitive system that will give every player equal access to the market. This will, in turn, provide Japan the best opportunity to fulfil the carbon neutrality goal by 2050.
On this subject, Japan is revising from today its border measures to open up for multiple entry short-term visas. Previously, it was only possible to apply for single entry short-term visas. Please note that the revision is only applicable for nationalities that are covered by visa exemptions under normal circumstances. Be assured that the EBC continues to advocacy for further relaxation for business travelers such as digital visas, and ultimately the removal of a need for a pre-departure visa for business people.
