| Dear Friends of the EBC,
The EBC has been very active attending or organising various meetings these past few days.
On 14 September, the EBC Committees’ chairs met to present their activities and to reflect on how to achieve better concrete results for European businesses. The various committees will be looking to work together, in particular to organise more joint events. These discussions are important for the EBC management in order to follow as closely as possible the concerns and needs of European companies in Japan.
On 11 September, Mr. Nikolaus Boltze, Country Representative of ThyssenKrupp and Chair of the EBC Defense and Security Committee, was invited at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan to give a 75 Minute presentation to a Dutch delegation, composed of a brigade-general and 25 young officers.
On 7 September, the EBC management met Mr. Jens Eskelund, the new President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. Uncertainties in China’s policy environment and rising geopolitical tensions, as well as the persistence of long-standing market access barriers are currently affecting European companies. They have started reviewing their investment and operational strategies, and ensuring their supply chains are fit for more uncertain conditions. EuroCham China and the EBC belong to the European Business Organizations Worldwide Network, that issued its first Newsletter yesterday.
Let me finally remind you that registrations for the 19th North America-Europe Golf Challenge in Japan 2023 are still open (Friday, 6 October, Atsugi Kokusai C.C. in Kanagawa Prefecture). This event is jointly organised by EBC, ACCJ and CCCJ. If you have any questions, please contact Antti Kunnas (FCCJ) on behalf of the Cup’s Task Force.
