Dear Friends of the EBC,
Our survey to better understand the difficulties encountered by European companies and investors to do business in Japan is coming to a close. We are extending it until 21 November. Your responses have a great importance for the improvement of our future business environment in Japan, thank you for your cooperation!
If you are interested in sectors such as Aeronautics, Space, Defense & Security, Energy, Pharma & Vaccines, Sustainability & Social Responsibility, Automobile, you are more than welcome to attend in person the presentation of our 2022 White Paper on 24 November, 4:00pm.
The EBC committees are made of European companies. They monitor the Japanese market, work on non-tariff barriers to produce the EBC White Paper, meet with ministries and various organizations and set up events for their members.
On 18 November, the Automotive Components & Aftermarket Committee will hold a conference on “How the future of e-mobility depends on cooperation, collaboration and placing the right bets”, with Chris Sachno, Senior Vice President, E-Mobility, Cloud Services & Innovation at Karma Automotive LLC and a consultant at Frost & Sullivan.
On 9 December, the Sustainability & Social Responsibility Committee will welcome Aya Nomizu, manager at PRI Japan (a UN-supported initiative), in charge of Climate Action 100+ for Japan. She will introduce the activities of both PRI and CA100+, and share her views on how Japanese and European stakeholders perform and engage in these international initiatives.
In conclusion, I would like to recommend 2 very interesting studies on maritime cabotage services and on offshore wind tender results. Among their conclusions, it seems that “Japan would benefit from simplifying rules related to offshore wind energy tendering and from removing restrictions on foreign vessels’ access to work on offshore wind energy projects.”
We are looking forward to seeing you soon at one of these events!
